I’m a teacher I want to get a gift for my assistant who is fantastic and worked her tail off this year.
She’s 56, and a simple woman…county, Christian woman. She doesn’t enjoy the finer things and doesn’t have a lot of money. I want to “spoil” her but I think she’s the kind of woman who would get a manicure or a massage…a gift card isn’t personal enough. And she might spend it on her daughter. She would NEVER spend ANY money on herself…but it would be nice if she did. Thoughts? |
| What about a gift certificate for a couples massage so she can go with her daughter. |

That's a tough one. It sounds like she is the type who likes practical gifts, even if she uses them on someone else. If that's what brings her joy, then roll with it. You can't control what someone else does with a gift.
How about a box of nice chocolates and a gift card? |

I’m close to her in age and similar in not treating myself. Honestly, I’d be thrilled with a gift card for someplace practical like Target or Trader Joe’s, which is a bit of a treat for me.
Could you have each of your students do a little page on their favorite things about her? That kind of thing is really meaningful. |
| How about a bird feeder? |
Goodness, I’m not trying to control her. DCUM can be really helpful sometimes so I’m looking for ideas. |
| What do you see her enjoying? I wouldn't want a manicure or massage. How about a nice work bag, lunch bag, etc. |
| Fancy olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Penzey’s collection of main basic spices, etc. all in a nice basket? |
A nice thought, but I don’t think that suits a simple country lady. |
| Does she have any hobbies to work with? |
| What’s the budget, OP?? |
Are you op? "Simple country ladies" enjoy cooking. |

My family is full of simple country ladies and yes LOVE cooking, but not with fancy olive oil AND balsamic vinegar. |
