Did anyone else see the WSJ article that tutor.com, which FCPS has a large contrat with, was re ently purchased by the CCP?

They also purchased The Princeton Review.

I feel like FCPS needs to break with tutor.com now.

Everyone should care about the CCP infiltrating our education systems, from the universities now down to public education.

FCPS should not maintain contracts with CCP owned companies.

The article didn't say the buyer is CCP.

What is CCP and why is that a problem??

CCP - Chinese Communist Party
The article didn't say the company is owned by CCP. The language it uses is: "Chinese private-equity firm"

They already have a contract with tutor.com. I doubt they can end it because the company was bought. They could not renew if they choose.

Well, because it’s not a true problem unless you’re a Republican running for office.

Has the data on tutor.com useage been updated?

What is the average per session cost that FCPS is paying this school year?

Last school year, the public ally available data showed that the average cost per session was $140.

Maybe the CCP just knows that the tax payers of Fairfax County are easy to fleece?

The CCP? Look, I have no love for the Chinese government, but the Primavera Group is not owned and operated by the CCP. It is an international equity firm. The dude who runs it got his PhD from Harvard. These groups invest in everything...because that's how investment groups work and make money.

There are lots of reasons to discontinue this relationship & wasn't it paid for with pandemic ESSER money anyway? Phone tutoring isn't that helpful to most students anyway.

If people are worried about the data security.
An international company is not riskier than FCPS itself.
In case people forgot, check this

I wonder, whether this has something to do with FCPS teachers' high turnover discussed I'm multiple threads.

My daughter tried it for math, and the tutors struggled with her homework, sometimes giving her wrong answers.

Total number waste.
