What's on your reading list for this month?
Currently reading: More Than You'll Ever Know, by Katie Gutierrez. I'm 1/4 of the way through and don't know what to make of it. The premise of the book is interesting - crime blogger delves into the story of a woman who was married to two men at the same time in the 80s and one of the husbands murdered the other. However, I'm finding the crime blogger character annoying and unlikable. I'll keep going because I rarely DNF books, unless they are truly bad. Maybe it'll pick up in the second half. Finished: runner Kara Goucher's memoir The Longest Run. Really enjoyed it. |
| I am currently reading the Perfumist of Paris, and I am disappointed with it. I'm almost done - its #3 in the Henna Artist series. After that I will read the Art Forger for book club. We normally meet at someone's house - but once a year we do a field trip related to the book for our meeting and we are going to the National Gallery of Art instead of our standard book club meeting for that book. After that, I think I will read Lessons in Chemistry... but we will see. |
| David Copperfield. I loved Demon Copperhead and wanted to read the original after finishing it. It’s wonderful. |
| I discovered a gem when I randomly checked out a fiction from the library called, Rosewood Casket by Sharyn McCrumb. Not my typical genre but I was hooked after reading it. It’s part of her The Ballad Novels series set in the Appalachian Mountain areas of VA, NC and TN. They weave together the history, legends, geography and contemporary issues. |

Molokai'i
It's so interesting! Historical fiction. Liking it a lot. |
| Tomorrow, tomorrow and tomorrow. About a third of a way through. Like it so far but I'm not exactly sure what all the hype is about so far. |
| Currently reading Under a White Sky, by Elizabeth Kolbert. On my list are Rebbeca Makkai's and S.A. Chakraborty's newest novels. |
| Reading "A Tale for the Time Being" for a book group. Really not interested in it at all so far, but pushing through to see if it gets better. |
My mom’s friend liked that book. My mom and my sister both DNF that book recently. |
Had no idea Chakraborty had new work out! Loved the Daevabad trilogy!! |

Currently reading Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano.
I am really enjoying it. I feel like I will need to read it again to be able to savor her writing and to let it plumb my soul. I did not finish "Dear Edward", her earlier book. |

On The Savage Side by Tiffany McDaniel.
I LOVED Betty. It was beautiful yet tragic. This book, however, is tragic, painful and *to me* emotionally manipulative. McDaniel seems to have leaned into the pain side of her writing. I don’t think I have the emotional strength to finish this one. |
| The Overstory. It's wondrous but long. |
One of my favorites I'm currently reading Symphony of Secrets by Brendan Slocumb and enjoying it. He also wrote another classical musical mystery that explores race called The Violin Conspiracy. Just finished Remarkably Bright Creatures, which I also liked. DNF The Reading List, which was May's book for my book group. |

Listening to TJ Klune’s A Wish Upon the Stars, fourth in the Lightening Struck Heart series. I’ve really enjoyed the characters in this universe, especially how the narrator, Michael Lesley, has brought them to life.
Just started reading: Ocean’s Echo, by Everina Maxwell. Second in the same sci fi universe. The first was enjoyable, looking forward to this one. Planned: The Remarkable Retirement of Edna Fischer. By EM Anderson. I’ve been waiting for this for a looooong time. It will be a riot! A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske. I have this in physical copy and I’ve been saving it to read outside in the warmer weather. |
