MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Two 16-year-olds have been arrested and charged with robbing a person at a McDonald's in Silver Spring on Friday. Detectives with the Montgomery County Department of Police determined that a juvenile victim was at the fast food restaurant on Georgie Avenue, when he was approached by two teens, a boy and a girl, who demanded his shoes. When the victim refused, he was punched in the face and his shoes were taken. The two 16-year-olds left in a Honda SUV, police said. Soon after, officers saw them leaving John F. Kennedy High School, a three-minute drive away from the McDonald's, in Wheaton-Glenmont, and get in the same SUV connected to the robbery. Officers then conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, which they say had stolen items from the robbery. A privately manufactured gun, also known as a ghost gun, and a large quantity of fentanyl pills were found. The two teens were then taken into custody. Police said the 16-year-old girl was taken to the police station, where she was released to her mother. The 16-year-old boy was taken to the Central Processing Unit, where he was charged as an adult. |

| good lord. |
| How do they know so fast it's fentanyl? Just 2 MILLIGRAMS (basically, dust) can kill a grown man. What the heck are kids doing with large quantities of it????? |
Distributing it to other kids at school, right under MCPS's nose. |
Mass murder? Because this is how much can kill you: Usually it's pills laced with fentanyl are distributed and kill. But straight up fentanyl? No end user wants that. Is this connected with the car crash due to the 3 overdoses on Connecticut Ave? |
| Jesus I was there in the afternoon trying to get a Diet Coke in the drive through and it took forever. Maybe it was all the felonies happening inside. Good lord. |
Are you doubting the existence of fentanyl pills? I know that they say a small dose can kill you, but these fentanyl pills are a real thing and they're growing in popularity with teens. Why wasn't the girl held in jail along with the boy?
|
I'm guessing she was just an accomplice and not the active robber? |
|
Besides illegally manufactured fentanyl pills, legal prescription fentanyl pills also exist as painkillers (which could be diverted from legal stream to illegal distribution).

I bet this is the case. MCPS has a huge problem with kids distributing and using drugs AT schools. And if you ask most teachers, they'll say that they don't really think McKnight has a plan to deal with this. |
She doesn't. And she doesn't want to develop one either. She's hoping to punt it to MCPD and avoid getting MCPS's hands dirty. |
Ah OK. So the legally manufactured pills do not each contain a lethal dose. |
| I literally see kids doing drug exchanges right outside of Damascus High School and their idiot principal says there is nothing he can do. The police have told me they don't care if it's weed. I don't know if it's weed! I don't care! Do something!!! I see money and something being exchanged. Def huge bags of weed I have seen. But other drugs are very small and we can't see that unless we are up close. I don't understand this. I'm really nervous for my kid to start high school to be honest. Please keep an eye on your kids - talk to them. Because those in charge won't help you. |
