DCUMs, how can I be the first to come here to poke fun (pun intended) at the bear sighting e-mail sent to RM cluster schools over two hours ago???
I cannot imagine being the principal and having to google best practices to avoiding pissing off a bear to include in an e-mail to parents. Including tips like staying in your vehicle if you see the bear outside, or standing on 'tiptoes' with your arms raised to appear bigger. My child is convinced this is a dog and that everyone is stupid. It's totally making the rounds on SnapChat, everyone is posting stories, all freaked out. Long live stupidity, amplified by social. But it makes for excellent DCUM fodder, so let the sniping begin. |
| Did they invite the bear to a restorative justice session yet so that the people it scared can heal? |
| There are bears in this area. One was in the parking lot of Bishop O’Connell last year. |
| There have been confirmed bear sightings in the past week in North Chevy Chase and Kensington. |
| Actually, there is a video that City of Rockville posted on Facebook with the bear in it. I think it was a legit sighting. |

Thank you, needed the laugh. |

Outdoor cameras… that’s how they know it’s a bear.

Pity the principal that has stupid parents like you. |
| I'm not sure what's so funny about it. They have the ability to reach a bunch of people to share info that not everyone might know and used it to alert to an incident in the community. We live in Rockville where that rabid coyote spent a day attacking several people a few years ago before the police tracked and shot it, and while it did feel weird to receive an official notification telling me to throw clods of dirt, you better believe I paid attention and committed the suggestions to memory. |
It started in the low rent areas. Police will only care it hits the w school districts. |
| There has been at least one bear in Rockville for awhile. There are fairly regular (as in once a year or so) sightings at Christ Episcopal School, which isn't far from RM. |
Rockville police sent out the alert. Got anymore stupid things to say? |
