We are looking for a swim team in North Potomac for our 11 year old, she is currently swimming for DC Wave team, but we would be moving soon
Any suggestions ? |
| RMSC Germantown, NCAP North, Joe Flaherty’s Dolphins. |

Bethesda Barracudas
Old Farm Swim Team - Rockville RMSC - Rockville |
These are summer league pools/teams, not what OP is looking for. RMSC - Germantown, Rockville, maybe KSAC TIBU (hydrosonic tiburones) There isn’t a club in Potomac/N Potomac, most of those kids come in to NCAP/RMSC/ASA |
Summer teams in North Potomac - westleigh is a very nice team and community - Potomac glen has a nice facility but is a small pool - country glen has a high level team and is very spirited Club teams nearby - Joe flahertys dolphins - hydrosonic Tiburones - rmsc Germantown (good coaches) I wouldn’t recommend Bethesda. They are a bunch of ringers who just show up on Saturday and they have a very mean coach. Old farm is a great community but is not close to north Potomac. Rmsc Rockville Rays are perennial league champions and train year round for summer league season. Only the elite can survive coach Greene’s training. |
| RMSC or NCAP North if your child is competitive and looking to swim in a lot of meets throughout the year. JFD is good if your child is a just looking to stay in shape and become a better swimmer, plus they have a flexible practice schedule. Downside to JFD in my opinion is they are not training swimmers to be competitive in meets. |
NCAP at Georgetown Prep or RMSC at Rockville are also both good options for a swimmer who wants to be competitive. |
Does anyone have experience with NCAP North? They don't seem to be mentioned as much as the other NCAP sites. |
Oh goodness, this is so not true. They train year round for Futures, Jr Nats, OTs, college D1. No one is training year round for summer league. The "elite" will likely miss several summer league meets for USA swimming meets. |

Are RMSC and NCAP still having tryouts?
Both of those are for the serious swimmer. Not sure they are still options as tryouts may be done. JFD and Tiburones are good for training and not quite so intense. Partial to Tibu. Will second the recommendation for Westleigh as a summer team. It’s a very welcoming, drama free environment. |
RMSCs tryouts are done. NCAPs tryouts are done as well but if you are looking to join a site that is not full to capacity you still might be able to get a tryout scheduled. |
| Stonebridge Sharks is another swim team in North Potomac. |
Again, that is only a summer league. |
| Washingtonian Woods may be another option |
Again, only a summer league. |
