I was offered a free elliptical but I didn't end up accepting it because we really don't have the space for it. I would love it, but it seems like it might just end up being wasted space. I do workout videos at home a lot with a step so I get my cardio this way. The person giving it away wanted it out of their house asap and required us to carry it down 2 flights of stairs. It was an older elliptical (think the ones that had MP3 plug-ins).

I had an elliptical for many years and will get another one when I have the space for it. It’s an easy machine to use to get a full body workout and I ALWAYS sweat a ton when using it. I know trainers hate it, but I think it’s great especially if you are someone who needs something low impact.

I have one and stopped using it because I prefer to walk or run on the treadmill. YMMV, my elliptical was also free. |
Why do trainers hate ellipticals? |
I have used mine 5 days a week for 20 years. Mine is in the finished basement. CT |
Nope. DH bought it but he doesn't like to run. We've had it for about 10 years and I may have used it 15-20 times max. It's a decent gym quality one but we don't use it. I'd rather run or go to the actual gym.
Currently getting rid of it. |
I had one but gave it away. I thought it was so boring. It was nice on days I couldn't get to the gym or it was bad weather outside but I'd rather have a treadmill. |
I use mine all the time. I got it during the pandemic. Still use it. Can't go outside for run/walk because of my allergies. It's killing me right now. |
I use mine all the time. So does DH and one of the kids. |
Better for your knees and joints than a treadmill. If I had the space I’d choose it over a treadmill or bike. |
Because it uses momentum to power forward to a certain extent, they think it’s a lazy way to exercise. I’m the PP above and when I use it, I put it on a high resistance level so there isn’t too much momentum involved in my workout. I really have to use my arms AND legs to get moving. |
We have an elliptical and a treadmill and I use both of them x5 days a week. Together with a few weights, I’ve made a nice home gym setup. It works perfectly for me as a SAHM. I can’t see myself ever getting a gym membership again. Equipment is right at home, there’s no commute time, no excuses. |
I've had one for over 10 years and still love it. I watch shows on my iPad while I use it. I use it on active recovery days or days when the weather is bad and I need steps. For hard cardio, I use my peloton. |
