Roof replacement

This is a smallish 1-day job. Do I tip the roofers? If so, how much. Do I need to offer them the use of the bathroom inside my house?

Giving access to your bathroom is a kindness. (It's a bonus if you don't want them using your shrubs as a restroom.)

Tipping if they're thoughtful about your property - all the parts that aren't the roof they're replacing - is also a kindness.

My roof, for $15,000 tips are included and you never EVER let strangers use your bathroom but if you do make sure someone is home with you. The roofers we had went down the street to use restroom facilities. As paranoid as you all are about COVID you'd think you'd be more aware of germs.
Food and water is on them.
The only people we tipped were a painter and the guy that replaced our front door. We did allow them in to use the restroom though. Father and son team.

Omg, quit being so paranoid.

You hide valuables. What are they going to do, attack you in your home? I suppose its possible, but you could also be attacked at any given time while simply sleeping in your home.

I have no idea, which is why I came here and asked. I never know who to tip or what the criteria are. A few years ago, I had a stove delivered and installed. Everyone told me to tip, so I did. How do you determine who should be tipped and who should not? I have a couch delivery coming in a few weeks, for example. Am I supposed to tip the guy? He's not setting anything up, just delivering it inside my door.

Exactly. You are raising questions that completely expose the asinine nature of tipping culture in USA. It makes zero sense at all. The only real people that deserve tips are wait staff at restaurants, that is about it.
