This is a head scratcher. |
ranked by whom? |
USWNR national universities |
WSJ also ranks Syracuse ahead of Fordham and UMass/Amherst.
Forbes also ranks Syracuse ahead of Pitt, Fordham and UMass/Amherst. I don't think Syracuse's ranking in USNWR is surprising. Syracuse is a well-established university with a national reputation, competitive admissions, and some really excellent programs. Don't mistake the DCUM echo chamber ("Syracuse -- such depressing winters -- HARD PASS!") for an authoritative assessment. |
Not “competitive admissions.” |
Who cares. These rankings are a bunch of bs. Isush these threads could be banned from this website because they are so tedious. |
It really depends upon the particular major or particular college or school within each university as to which is the best school for a certain applicant. |
OP, Syracuse is a better school than the ones you list. It is pretty simple. |
+1 Those rankings look at overall, but major matters. |
Certain Newhouse programs have an acceptance rate of under 3%. |
Admit rate was 36% this year, that’s pretty competitive |
Umass suffers as a flagship because it is expensive in-state, and it is surrounded by a zillion private schools in New England. The profile of the student body has gotten a lot better since I was looking at colleges in the mid '00s. |
Jim Boeheim. |
Is this a new ranking for Syracuse? I recall last year that it was ranked below UMass. They must be on the rise. |
