| I am flying with my DD this weekend and need a booster on the other side for Ubers. I’m not planning on checking luggage. Can I carry on the booster or do I get charged like an additional carry on? Flying those crappy budget airlines that charge you for everything. |
If she sits on it in the plane it should be ok. It won't take up any overhead bin space |
| If she sits on it, it won’t count as an item. Or it will count as HER carry-on item, as long as you don’t have a separate suitcase for her or anything. Remember that she gets one carry-on and one personal item (small backpack with toys or something) just like any other ticketed passenger. |
| Boosters are not FAA approved and cannot be used on any plane. Will have to go in the bin or under the seat. I don’t believe it counts as a carryon. You can also check it for free. |
| Gate check it and it should be free. Go to the desk at the gate and they'll tag it for you. Will come out on the jetway, you won't need to pick up at baggage claim. |
| The fact that two people responded that you can sit on a booster on a plane really makes me question the accuracy of many other replies on this forum. Why do people answer posts they know nothing about? |
OP here, yes I do know that you can’t bring a random booster and sit on it on the plane. I can try to check it, I know that’s free. Annoying because I don’t have any other checked luggage. |
| I believe you can carry-on or gate check it for free. It is considered a mobility aid, the same as a cane, crutches, a stroller, etc. Most airlines if not all permit checking, or bringing on at least one baby or child related piece of equipment, within parameters, without a fee. |
| You can gate check for free. I recommend buying one of those red bag/covers that they sell on Amazon for car seats. It will keep it from getting dirty and The covers are clearly labeled “Child Car Seat” so they know it’s a free checkeditem |
| How old is she? I got an inflatable booster seat on Amazon. It fits in my purse and feels safe enough when we were in Ubers. |
PP here. I wasn’t referring to you, I understood your question. I was referring to the two posters who were like “just sit on it.” They clearly have not flown with small children, maybe ever. So why respond? |
| If anyone is wondering I spent like an hour on hold with spirit and they told me to check it. Which seems so silly because I don’t have other checked luggage. And it’s a backless booster so it hardly takes any room on the plane. Spirit charges more for checked luggage than carry on so the overhead bins are always empty. |
She can't sit on a booster seat on the plane. It's not safe to use a booster seat on a seat that doesn't have a shoulder belt, and the FAA forbids it. |
Gate check it. |
| A booster seat does nothing on a plane nor can you even secure it. |
