Does a booster seat count as carry on when flying?

Sorry misread, you just want to carry it on? Depends how many other bags you have. Probably be easier to just gate check.

What airline op?

We have inflatable boosters too, but I just saw that they are no longer recommended.

And it’s a backless booster so it hardly takes any room on the plane. Spirit charges more for checked luggage than carry on so the overhead bins are always empty.

It’s not silly, it takes up space. Put it in a bag, now it’s a carry on.

OP, I flew at Christmas with a backless booster (Alaskan Air). We carried it on and put it overhead, no issue. Tie it to your other carryon if you're worried.

It’s not that they aren’t recommended anymore by this agency doing this study. They are unrated because they need more research. As a car seat tech we still recommended using these in place of no seat at all to get proper belt fit.

This is the obvious solution but she said She doesn’t want to gate check bc she would have to wait after her flight at baggage claim and isn’t checking anything else.

No, it doesn’t count. Just gate check it.
