Outdoor lab?

We just got an email that the overnight portion for our upcoming trip was cancelled while they review procedures. What could have happened?! So bizarre one week out. And so disappointing for 5th graders looking forward to is (and who already missed out on their 3rd grade trip due to Covid).
Please don’t post that they’ll get over it and it’s not the end of the world- of course I know that. Just wondering why they’re telling us now, a week out.

I’m not sure, but I just came across another thread, supposedly there was a “sexual incident” on the Oakland school’s overnight and Fauquier PD got involved. We have this field trip coming up as well, so waiting for more info…

Did they cancel the entire trip? If only the overnight portion, they’re not missing out on much.

FWIW, current 6th graders missed Jamestown AND the Outdoor lab overnight so...

We received word about the cancellation this morning too. I had seen the other thread. I'm disappointed that with over 6 weeks until my kid was to go, that APS couldn't try to figure out an approach with greater supervision in that timeframe before just throwing their hands up and cancelling. It's not like my child was supposed to go next week.

I heard (but could be wrong) that Outdoor Lab is the one that suspended overnights. It may not be an APS decision.

Good to know (though they're an extension of APS). I would have expected something like "All overnights for the next 2 weeks will become day trips only. We will provide an update in a week on if we can get in place an altered approach to ensure overnight safety." or something like that
