I'm in a unit that doesn't have to come in, but I am curious how things went for people on their return to office this pay period.
Anyone find it useful? Even enjoyable to see colleagues? (Were enough people even in the days you chose to go to get to see anyone?) Or was it really just a waste of time in your view? Was commuting easier since it was only a couple of days, or did that make it harder since you were used to not having to bother? I'm toying with applying to a different division and, if I made the switch I assume I would lose my ability to be fully remote, so just trying weigh how much I would care about coming in occasionally. |

| Seemed like a waste of time to me. Meetings were still virtual, even though half the people were in their offices. Didn’t really talk to anyone about anything substantive/collaborative/etc.. I could do without for the 2 hour commute RT, packing coffee, bringing food/utensils/etc. It was nice to get lunch with colleagues to catch up but I otherwise don’t really understand the point. |
| Total waste of time. All of my meetings are still online, and, when I had no work to do, I sat there bored and alone. I frankly felt resentful after just one pay period. |
Try being unemployed. All the time at home you want.

If having nothing to do is anything but a very rare occurrence, something is very wrong. Especially at your salary. Did you really have nothing you could do, or just nothing that had to be done that day? |
Literally nothing to do because management in my group is dysfunctional and does not shift work around when projects get delayed. I’ve raised it and my boss is so underwater they react awkwardly like I should enjoy the break. I’m not the only one in my group that this happens to. It’s feast or famine and I’m about to leave for another office if I can. |

I was hired during covid from another agency. The current policy is similar to what I left, so in that sense it's NBD. It is a total waste of time to come in, but I understand why it is the way it is.

It’s WASTE FRAUD AND ABUSE. Paying tens of millions of dollars in taxpayer money basically for a building so bureaucrats can come in once a week to socialize for a few hours.
Meanwhile, thousands of hours are lost in productive time commuting, not to mention the environmental damage caused by the commute and utilities. The only people benefitting are the those who own the parking garage. The whole thing is a big joke and a gigantic waste of time. I. In a sane, responsible society, those responsible for this idiocy would be fired. |
So sick of the whiny babies making so much more than the rest of the government still complaining about their more generous telework policy. |

it's... whatever. my office mate moved 1000 miles away, so i just ensure i am not in the office when they come in for their local week (aka, thursday, friday, monday, tuesday).
somehow they are going to have to restack all of the non-contractors in sp3, as well as all of the new hires, in the next couple months since the plan is for sp3 to be empty by june for the rest of the physical handover. the equipment is a lot shittier than what I have at home, so between the flickering overhead lights and the slightly blurry monitors I end my in-office day with a migraine. otoh, at least i only need to come in two days a pay period. under the previous CBA, I'd be stuck at only two days of telework a week for basically ever. |
This id one of my biggest issues. My stuff at home is just so much better. |
