Sanna Marin comes third in Finnish national parliamentary election

Finnish parliamentary elections today

Sanna Marin came in third.

She had so much free press, attractive aesthetic, led her country into NATO..

..and still came third behind Conservative Party and far right party.

Virtually impossible for her to retain her premiership now

Oh well.

Maybe posting pics of her and others partying it up didn't play as well as she hoped it would.

Riikka Purra Is the woman tipped to be next pM

Head of national-conservative party

Something tells me she won’t get as much free press in the anglosphere like sanna

I wonder why

Was she 16? Because that would put her right among the best and brightest US very religious conservative congresswomen and their children

Hmm. According to the BBC, the National Coalition party, led by Petteri Orpo, came in first. Rikka Purra is head of the Finns Party, which came in third.

Orpo apparently is very moderate and needs to form a coalition. He could form one with Sanna Marin's Social Democrats party, but the party is very left leaning and is opposed to the center, so that may leave him with forming a coalition with the Finns party.

Could you imagine if the U.S. elected a female, childless, unmarried president who proceeded to have a baby while unmarried in office?

People’s heads would spin out of their heads

Didn't she have her baby before becoming prime minister and marry her boyfriend once she was in office?

In any case, these types of arrangements are pretty common in Scandinavia.

The US elected a man who was banging a porn star while his wife had just given birth. I didn’t see anyone’s head spin off their shoulders.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the NATO part sank her. It was an emotional over-reaction to temporary events, with long-lasting consequences.

I hope that you brought a parachute out on the limb with you because you will need it:

A change of government is expected to have little impact on Finland’s security stance, with the NCP a firm backer of the country’s accession to NATO and military support for Ukraine.

The three major parties are all NATO supporters and the election appears to have centered on domestic economic issues rather than foreign policy.
