Where are your seniors in their decision making process?

Anonymous
I have a junior, and I’m just curious how this plays out. If your senior did not do/get in ED, how are things going?

Are you doing revisits? Are they talking the decision through with friends? Feeling settled already?

Kid had several choices EA. We did an admitted students weekend for first choice, loved it more than originally though and we recently made the deposit and contacted other schools that he won’t be attending.

Was not admitted to any school that is a clear leader for my child. Making visits to admitted student events for top 3 contenders out of their 6 admits - two involve air travel. (visited one other EA result in March - within driving distance)

Decision done. DD had several options she liked from EA. A couple RD options ended up being waitlist or too expensive. So, she was mainly deciding between three EAs and the choice came down to an EC that only one offered and that school just felt like a better fit. She did a admitted student visit there to confirm she still felt that way and after that decided not to bother with revisiting the other options.

Doing 5 more campus visits between now and the end of April. DC will undoubtedly decide at the very last minute.

Admitted Student Days will save us, I believe. Last one is April 15th.

DC was not admitted to dream school, and he's hesitating between various targets, which have very different campuses, so it's a question of visiting to make sure the fit it good. Academically, his major is well taught at all of them, which is why they made the list in the first place. Money is not an issue, since the most expensive gave him enough aid to come down to the cost of the others.

Kid not admitted to first choice and seems to think the wait list for another school offers hope.

Fingers crossed that WL school shuts that down soon

Wants waitlist school which is unrealistic. Really not excited about anything. Considering holding off and not sending to college in the fall . Just asking her to get a job until she can appreciate the choices. Don’t know what else to do.

We visited most schools last summer and fall. DD had a top three of the 12 schools to which she applied since last fall— she was admitted to one, waitlisted at one and accepted at the third (all 3 are T30). She has already committed to the one where she was accepted. Other nine schools were essentially back ups (although some were reaches stats wise) and she was only admitted to two anyway. We plan on attending accepted students day for the school she will be attending.

Unhooked male from NOVA. Rejected Harvard and Penn (shocker!). Waitlist UVA and Northeastern (jerks). Accepted BU, UMD, W&M, CWRU, Lehigh, OSU, Pitt, UMN. Merit from all except Pitt. Final two are BU and UMD for CS. Program strength and parents (politely) scream UMD. Son enamored with Boston.

DD accepted at 6, waitlisted at 3 and rejected at 5. She is pros and conning her final top 3 school but she does have a top choice. She has the last admitted student event next week so hopefully she commits by the following week.

Mine did all EA and chose his school a few weeks ago. He’s starting his long list of tasks for college over spring break.
