Sidwell 9th grade waitlist movement?

| WL at SFS for 9th. Got into Walls. Wondering if the Sidwell waitlist is moving yet for 9th. And if Sidwell spot opened would you take it or take Walls? |

| Make plans as if you are not getting off the WL, because that is by far the most likely outcome. Accept Walls. If a miracle occurs and Sidwell calls, you can decide then. |

| Agree with PP for being waitlisted at sidwell. This isn’t a waitlist that moves like getting off the waitlist for the pool or daycare. There’s no moving in a progression |

This happened last year for a couple people who had connections but not the year before from what I was told by someone at the school. The pandemic yield changed things. If you have a spot at Walls I think you are better off anyway from what I have heard from others. If you really want to have a change to get off the waitlist bug the Admissions team (as in call/email them once a week), you have nothing to lose. |

| Accept Walls and if the waitlist moves sbd you are offered a spot then take it. The 9th grade WL doesnt move that much. |

| Our daughter is on the Sidwell 9th grade WL. She would be thrilled if it came together but not expecting it. We put a deposit at another school. |

Fingers crossed for you. Sidwell Friends School is literally known to be the best day school in the USA. At the same time, I'd try to embrace your choice number two at this point for your child's sake. He/her/they may embrace the school more if you seem enthusiastic. In other posts on DCUM I've read that Sidwell contracts were due at 9:00 on the 17th and waitlist spots offered at 9:15 sharp... Again fingers crossed; You never know maybe a family will suddenly need to move to some other state or something.. |

lol. You chose the list of "Christian" high schools. basically you sought out data to fit your claim. If you search Niche for private K-12 schools period (not Christian) they are 14th. What in the world? Is it just one crazy posting things like this over and over or are multiple people spouting nonsense? Sidwell is a fine school but not any better than several other local privates and doesn’t hold up to the top New England schools and is definitively not better than the top CA schools. OP it’s not a waitlist like a pool where they go to the top and that spot moves. If/when a spot opens, they fill it with something comparable so say girl who is good at music or whatever it is. There is always movement when contracts were due, some when boarding school waitlists shift around and then some when a larger deposit is due in June. Take the Walls spot but that is still a slim chance there will be more movement in june |

| Please. Sidwell is a great school but it is not any better or any different than the other top private schools in our area. The only difference is Obama and Clinton sent their kids to Sidwell. NCS/STA and GDS deliver the same product and prestige. |

| I would add Potomac to this list of schools recognized and valued outside of the DMV. Gonzoga as well for sports value. |
