I'm interviewing for a leadership position at a non-profit this week. This interview is with the executive team. What should I expect in terms of the types of questions I might get? The last round, which was with people I'd be supervising, focused on both leadership and technical skills. Am I correct that this next round will likely focus more on leadership/vision? Just trying to figure out how to prepare. I've been at the same organization for a long time and haven't interviewed in 10+ years, so any tips would be appreciated! TIA
I’m not sure how large the nonprofit you’re interviewing with us, but in many smaller nonprofits, adding the wrong person to the mix can really affect the culture. So many of the questions are likely to figure out your personality, if you would be a good fit, etc. I say always go and have answers to the question about how you handle conflict with specific examples, how you handle failures versus successes, a specific examples, etc.
Expect that they might probe on weaker aspects of your application. If you’ve already gone through a round or two of interviews, it’s possible the execs have gotten feedback like “i think she’s great in most areas, but worry about her lack of business development experience” or whatever. Otherwise yes, we’re looking for a good cultural fit that members of exec team think could work with the rest of the team well.
