It seems like the same person keeps calling actual science pseudoscience and disagreeing-same tone. If it's more than one person then I stand corrected.

I read that thread up to page 4. That was enough to determine that there is a single poster debating almost everyone. As far as I could tell, that poster has done a poor job of explaining exactly what they believe causes autism or how it should be treated. Instead, the poster is almost entirely focused on opposing what other suggest (especially inflammation). However, that poster does appear to be the parent of a child with autism and is not acting in a way that I would consider inappropriate. Within the four pages I read, there were a handful of other posters that made what I would consider more inflammatory (no pun intended) posts.

Go back and take another look, Jeff. It wasn’t just me.
Also great job assisting in the bullying of DCUM posters! I wasn’t sock-puppeting and it was pretty clear from context that I was making multiple points. There was nothing I did wrong, but this intervention of yours is designed to embarass and chill participation. Now let me ask - does OP of this thread come to you repeatedly to tattle to gain perceived advantage in an argument? |
I clearly said that you were "not acting in a way that I would consider inappropriate" and that others were making even more inflammatory remarks. I am not familiar with the original poster of this thread and don't know how often she has made such posts or even if she has done it at all previously. |
Plus one to this. This is terribly disappointing (not sure how to tag Jeff) There is another thread where the "it's inflammation " poster linked to a Harvard article where the headline has words like "autism" and "inflammation " and "study". They posted the article as if it supported the idea that Harvard conforms a link. But, with any modicum of reading comprehension, you can understand the Harvard article actually says that the more autistic a person is--the LESS inflammation was found in their study. It is thoroughly Exhausting to continue to refute junk ideas from abilist people who keep posting lies about autism research. In fact, autism does not only effect the brain. It effects the body, including but not at all limited to gut microbiome. There's a hyperfocus on inflammation and gut health because people are trying to find an underlying sickness. There isn't one. Autistic people eat like crap and have extremely limited food choices so of course. It's really maddening that people can post the same junk Science again and again and the burden is on the opposing view to refute it each and every time. If there was ONE poster on the original thread: Good for them! I'd like to thank them for doing the heavy lifting. They might just be the only one with the patience to try to correct misinformation and lies, but they are certainly not the only one who knows better. |
I am not sure why you are disappointed. I defended the poster who was arguing against "junk science". As I posted just above, I said the poster was not posting anything inappropriate and that others were posting more inflammatory remarks. I'm not sure what more you would expect from me. |
I can't figure out whether you are being serious with the bolded or what. If you are, I'm stunned. If you aren't, it isn't clear what you are saying. In your attempt to clarify some things you believe about autism you undermine your own integrity with statements like that as well as capitalizing random words, using "effect" when you mean "affect" and "ablist" when you mean "ableist" which may be a typo, I don't know. |
SMH. I'll never understand why so many posters feel free to make bizzare, ignorant comments about autism that they wouldn't dream of making toward other groups. It's really disheartening. Please, just stop. It's hard enough out here as it is. |
