Raise your hand if you gave deposits to multiple schools.

Did anyone give deposits to multiple schools on the 17th? If so how many?

Did you do that OP? Why? Are your kids young? Can’t imagine doing this with older kids, cause they become more part of the decision and the indecision becomes harder for them. No, we didn’t do that. Decided by the deadline.

Was it a tough decision? Was the final decision made on the 17th or before?

Why would you do that? In addition to be crappy to the schools and kids on the wiaiting list, what are you hoping to gain?
What additional information will come in later to help you make the final decision?

I think this is key. What do you expect to change between now and June? You will have to make a decision so you should have just done it now and saved yourself that extra deposit.

Yes, it was tough. This is why I can’t imagine anyone prolonging this bg another 2 months. It’s not like the sky would open and a clear answer would fall from the sky in those two months, or you visit the schools one more time and suddenly achieve clarity. It’s just prolonging the indecision conundrum and anxiety by 2 months. Yes, now that we’re decided we all feel good and we move forward.

What are you waiting for? Unless there’s something you’re waiting on, like you might be moving to a different neighborhood or something, this just seems stupid and obnoxious.

We are thinking of doing this. You learn about the school as time goes one while you are out of of the flirting stage and actually dealing with the bureaucracy. One school we've already paid a deposted on has been pretty horrible so far (inconsistent communication of deadlines, having to pick courses before being able to talk with advisor etc.)

Just dumb! Grow up and make a decision. It's not fair to the school or other potential wait pool applicants. It can't be that serious.

Please don't do this people.

What an obnoxious thing to do, to the school, to other students who might have gotten that spot, and even to your own kid to drag things out like that. Grow up.

Only reason I can imagine to do this is that one might be moving across the river, but it is not certain. In that narrow case, one might have a deposit at a school on each side of the river only until the final house location became clear.

If this becomes a bigger problem, schools will respond by raising the amount of the deposit.

Wow, this is enlightening. I naively never knew anyone does this; that would have never occurred to me. What an awful approach, for a multitude of reasons!

Wow you kind of signed a lie when you put the second deposit down.
