GW University new moniker

Anonymous
George Washington University has announced the 4 finalists for the new moniker to replace the "colonials."
The finalists are:

-Ambassadors
-Blue Fog
-Revolutionaries
-Sentinels

I think Revolutionaries is the best fit, but I wish they'd considered the singular instead, "GW Revolution." Of course, they'll always be the Hippos to many of us.

I think “GW Virtue Signalers” would be the best possible name.

Why is Colonials bad? Was the US not initially colonies?

Exactly.

If the United States had been a completely empty land, you might have a point. What you are conveniently forgetting is that this land was already inhabited. So the “colonials” who came here turned into colonizers who murdered, robbed and disgracefully betrayed native peoples. Then, they brought enslaved people to this land and colonized some more on the backs of those enslaved peoples.

Why? Are you dumb or something? How random.

George Washington literally led the revolution to no longer be a colonial. This has been talked about since I went to GW in the 90s. Glad they are changing the name, but dear god, I hope they don't choose the Blue Fog.

Blue Fog sounds like a strain of weed. Honestly, I don't like any of them.

So what is the difference between the establishment of colonies and the subsequent establishment of an independent country - both political structures were tainted by the exploitation you reference ?

The level of contempt that Americans have for their own country and history - it’s just repulsive. Especially these millennials. Unbearable

Um, YEAH. You can’t use money and resources gained by blood to build a political structure free of exploitation. You can work to improve it, and must do, whenever and however you can.
