How much did your daughter grow after her period?

Anonymous
My daughter is 10 and just got her period. I know that growth slows for girls after this point and trying to figure out what’s realistic to expect as far as additional growth for a 10 year old. Curious to hear from other parents who have daughters that got their periods on the younger side.

Probably two inches. She got it at 12, though.

this happened to 2 of my daughters...one grew 4 inches, done growing, 3 inches shorter than predicted based on parent height and also her growth curve when younger. second grew three inches-hoping she grows at least 1-2 more inches, not sure if she will, also 3-4 inches shorter now than predicted.....praying third doesnt develop so early, she is more petitie than the other two so we are having her see ped end just in case as may consider puberty blockers--which yes can have significant side effects...

regarding why? well they are active , thin, not genetic, so I have beat my head up about this...i dont know..i did take progesterone in pregnancy and also we lived in a smelly old house at the time--estrogen like chemicals? who knows...

Nothing.
She was 13 and did not grow further.

She got her period at 13. She's 16 now and has grown 3 inches since then. She recently had a hand x-ray to monitor bone development and based on that they think she might grow another inch.

Curious what spurred the need to monitor? Growing that much after puberty isn’t common, but I wouldn’t think it was problematic. Was there something else?

She has minor scoliosis. The chances of her curve getting worse goes way down after growth is complete so the orthopedist wanted to know how much growth remained.

I was tha tallest in my class when I got my period at 10. My Mom got her period at 10 too. There is 0 wrong with having a period at 10. I grew maybe another inch. I'm 5'4.5" so I'm not as shirt as my Mom 5'2" or Grandmothers (under 5'0")

Dd got her period shortly after she turned 13 last November and has grown about 2” since then. I expect she will grow another 2-4 based on my and dh’s heights but hard to know for sure.
I got my period at 11 and grew about 2 more inches but I was already the tallest in my class and pretty developed. Dd is not as developed as I was even at 2 years older. I am 5’7” and dd is currently 5’5.5”

Mine got hers at 10 as well, and grew 1.5 inches after. She’s very short 4’11”), but that’s not terribly surprising given our genetics. I have a friend whose daughter got her period around that age, who grew 7” after. Also not a surprise as they have very tall genes.

She was 11, and 5'2"

She's now 17 and 5'5"

The not growing after first period is an old wive’s tale

And stop worrying about how tall they will get. They are freaking insecure enough. They don’t need their moms worried about their height, weight, and looks too.

My daughter got her period shortly before turning 10, and she's 5'4" in high school, so she must have grown at least 4"-5". I don't recall her being significantly taller than average in 4th grade.

Mine got hers two months before turning 14 and has grown almost 4 inches (she’s almost 16). She’s still short, though, I’m hoping for another inch or two but I know she is probably closer to be done growing. Both parents were late bloomers.
