If a mutigen mom has curly but not tight curls and dad is wavy, but both are multigen, will a curly pup be even curlier or most likely about as curly as mom? Considering a puppy. Thanks

All doodles shed, just not like other dogs. They don’t shed nearly as much and what they shed typically gets trapped in the curly coat. It’s why you won’t have hair on your furniture or floors, but you’ll see plenty of hair in their brushes and need to brush daily to prevent matting.

Just not true. I brush my doodle every few weeks and she doesn’t mat. Stop speaking in absolutes.

I have a Bernese-doodle.
He does not shed like a normal dog, but a grooming nightmare.
He has two coats like a Bernese mountain dog and straight hair. He is absolutely adorable and gets tons of attention as when his hair is longer he looks like a war or just stuck his tongue in an electrical outlet.
He requires daily combing of the under coat from where his harness goes on or where dogs play / grab him for play time.
Every 3 weeks he has a “blow out” but professional groomer; every 6 a hair cut.
If we do not maintain his coat he has to be shaved due to matting.
We are spending 100 or so for a blow out per month and then cuts are about 250. So 175 per month on grooming plus daily combing.

I have a doodle mix (part poodle, part lab, part golden) and his hair is curly. I don't know what his parents looked like. We spend $150 for grooming every other month.

We also have a bernedoodle but this is not our experience. Ours is wavy and like a PP, we brush every now again. Wavy coat, very little shedding and no matting. We get her groomed every 8 weeks, $125 + tip.

oh and I brush him every few days. Less when his hair is short, daily when his hair is long

And this is why designer mutts are a giant scam. You guys are paying pure breed prices for a random non-standardized mutt. There is a reason why pure breeds exist and that reason is standardization and predictable phenotypes. Doodle is not a breed so you might get a double coat or not. Roll the dice.
