| Third trimester with our second DD and my husband and I keep running through name lists. We feel like we were so locked in on our first DD’s name (Camille) and absolutely love it. We also loved our hypothetical boy’s name, so being this late in the game without a locked up name is annoying. Anything we try for #2 just feels like it’s coming in second place. Any tips on how to get over that mindset? |

Can you pick a name you sort of like, and commit to it and walk around with it for a few days imagining, and see if it either grows on you or give you insight into what you want?
So you have Camille and you decide you will try Elodie (a name I think sounds great with Camille). After a few days you will probably either feel like Elodie has grown on you, or you feel like it’s too little girly and move to Elise or Alexandra, or too French and move to Lucy, or you don’t want a name with such an obvious nickname and move to Tess. |
| Or you pick a few you like and wait until she arrives to see if you think she looks like an Élodie or a Juliette or an Alexandra or a Caroline or whatever |

My preference for names has changed over time. The names I liked in 1990 were different than the ones I liked in 2000 or the ones I'd pick now. I'm forever making mental lists of great dog names now that I won't be naming any more babies.
Interestingly, I like my second kid's name more than the first kid's name. His name didn't even make our short list first time around. Most people choose a name other than Camille, so there are lots of valid options out there that are great. You still have time. My husband and I suggested my niece's name as my sister was in labor getting in the car to go to the hospital. It starts with an A because we were on the first pages of reading the name book when she left for the hospital. |

I love the name Camille! It was on our list too but we wound up naming our daughter Marie after my grandmother instead. We’re done having babies now but if we were to have another daughter she’d likely be Camille. I think Marie goes very well w Camille

Here is the French pronunciation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCl6o6XyGPg In English, I would pronounce it to rhyme with Melody. |
