Does anyone have a good drama camp to recommend? DC metro, but best if it's in NoVa. Many thanks.

My kid has enjoyed Adventure Theater if it's not too far for you.

Traveling Players has a day camp in Tysons and a sleepaway camp in Leesburg – we love it!

Drama camp is pretty expensive! 3500 for two weeks. Is it worth it?

What does "worth it" mean to you?

Any parent can provide some insight on Traveling Players vs Theatre Lab vs Imagination Stage?

Agree it's relative -- but I guess I was asking whether parents are seeing obvious improvements in the kid' command of the voice, the demeanor, etc.

I would say that’s a lofty expectation for a summer camp! It’s not a paid private training, it’s a summer camp experience.

I assume you're looking at Traveling Players. It's a sleepaway drama camp which is why it's that much. DS has done a few camps and classes with them and we have been happy with our experience. The teachers have been warm and supportive and the shows are pretty good too! We're paying the same amount to send DD to Camp Rim Rock – it's just what sleepaway camps cost, and you have to weigh for your family if that cost is worth it.

Don’t have direct knowledge of the other two but my teen had a great experience with Theatre Lab last year. Their teen summer institutes are really high caliber!

My teen has done both Imagination Stage & Traveling Players and greatly prefers TP. She's always been a big reader, so the Shakespeare focus is particularly appealing to her, and the training is excellent. She also really enjoys the camping/touring experience. She's returning to their advanced teen company this summer and she is anxiously awaiting casting auditions, so she can dive in and get started on memorization.

Imagination Stage was great when she was younger, but she stopped feeling really challenged by them sometime in middle school. We haven't tried Theatre Lab.
