| Spring sports are starting up, which means it's almost time for me to sit on bleachers and listen to siblings watch videos on their parents' phones, all while trying to avoid having a stroke. Seriously, I cannot the sound. Can't explain the rage I feel. Not attending isn't an option. Can I wear noise-canceling headphones? It looks so rude, but as anyone who has misophonia knows, the triggers are awful. |
| Yes, just wear ear plugs or whatever. No big deal. |
| you can wear the earphones |
| No one cares if you wear headphones. |
| Try Loop earplugs, they're not quite as conspicuous . |
| Sit away from people and bring your own chair. Or sit in your car. No one will care where you watch from. |
| spark plug ear plugs from amazon. |
My MIL has tinnitis and I've been looking at getting her some of these... |
I have to play white noise. |
| Yes, try earplugs and if those don't work then the big honkin' noise cancelling ones. I also freak out when people shake their legs or fidget repeatedly so sometimes I have to move myself so I can't see them. It's awful. |
| You can get earphones that are less obvious. I use ones from Flare that kind of make the sounds less annoying without blocking everything, and Loop are also more discreet. |
I got these and I don't understand how they are better than the regular cheap ones you buy in a pack of 50 from CVS. Same cheap material, $40 more. |
Yes! I (OP) have that visual trigger, too. It's easier to just look away from, though. |
| It's a good thing your kid doesn't play basketball. |
Is that what’s wrong with me? I loathe the speaker audio on phones. Going to a restaurant or any event where kids are running around with videos playing drives me insane. |
