Oklahoma Keeps Cannabis Illegal

“Voters in Oklahoma on Tuesday rejected a measure to legalize the recreational use of marijuana, a defeat that marks a significant setback for the marijuana legalization movement.”

I would love for a Republican to explain how conservatives love freedom and how putting people in prison for a plant is ideologically consistent with a broad right to personal freedom?!

Change is hard and change is harder in Oklahoma. I believe Oklahoma has historically had some of the strictest drug laws in the country so it's not a surprise that they haven't moved fully in this direction yet. https://www.toprehabs.com/news/toughest-drug-laws-u-s/

Great to see. I have yet to hear how it improves society to normalize being a pothead.

Good.

They won't have all of the idiots smoking weed in public and smoking weed while driving like we do here. It is absolutely out of control.

After all, weed isn’t necessary for socializing the way alcohol is, and it isn’t addictive according to its fans, so why do we need it at all?

I’m a liberal who os on with this. But I also would love to see nicotine become illegal because of how many it still kills — even though I know this would never happen and it’s not something I’d campaign for.

But I don’t want people who use cannabis or tobacco recreationally to be prosecuted.

Good. It smells like sh*t.

Where’s the “luxury beliefs” poster when you need ‘em.

Interesting that this was on the ballot in March instead of last November.

Well for starters many people won’t be going to jail and leaving their family without a husband and father.

I don’t think we need jail for it

Fines are okay

How is one of the most backwards states in the country rejecting something a set back for anything?

LOL is alcohol "necessary for socializing"? You are hanging out with the wrong people.

+1000

As more and more research is done about pot, I am thinking some states will regret their decision to legalize it.
Maybe the legalization of cannabis is one of the reasons we have a large number of people who are choosing to remain unemployed.
