for people on a budget. We need to get a new one as our old one is sinking on one end, but DH is adamant on getting a new one (no FB marketplace or second hand) and I don't think we are in a comfortable enough place to pay $4000-5000 right now. For reference, DH wants to get the ones from this site- https://www.dwr.com/living-sofas-sectionals?lang=en_US
TIA!

In that price range you could consider Ethan Allen's offerings, which aren't quite as fashion forward and will likely stay in style longer.

I do not recommend Room and Board. Looks good on the outside, but the springs and support's inside aren't good.

My thrift store mid-century couch supported on old fashioned wire springs is still spring-y and it was easy to re-canvas the base..
The Room & Board sofa which isn't supported on wire springs but rather on stretched strips of canvas that eventually broke can't be easily fixed without ripping apart the bottom of the couch. It just isn't designed for maintenance. It's designed to wear out, be thrown away and another replacement bought for another 1.5K.

How much do you want to pay?

IKEA. For a budget modern couch you go to Ikea and get either Some Klippans or their current expensive model that you like.

I loved Ikea Beddinge and do not understand why Ikea does not resurrect the Beddinge model sofabed. Their current models are just meh. Beddinge lasted us 15 years, I think!

I agree. We have Beddinge and Klippan and both are classic and high quality.

I'm confused about how much you want to pay. Was your link what you can afford or was your link just showing that your husband Ikes mid-century modern-ish stuff?

Do you want a regular 3-seater or a sectional?

If you want a regular 3-seater, you have a ton of options in the $2000ish range. I agree with PP that Room and Board upholstered furniture is terrible and I deeply regret buying the Metro sofa, I hate, hate it. We previously had a Crate and Barrel Axis sofa and it was really wonderful, I wish I had just bough the same thing instead of shopping around for something cheaper. If you want to really cheap but that DWR look, look at West Elm and IKEA.

Basset. Go to the store in the Vienna/Tysons area. We are very pleased with our sectional from there.

Yes to the Axis (ideally the 3-seat)

Your husband is RIGHT. Do not buy used upholstered furniture. Bed bugs (and other insects) can live inside of sofas.

Can those who are recommending the Radley from Macy's talk a bit about it's stain resistance? And comfort? I like the look of it a lot, but I'm wondering how it would fare with kids and pets? Especially a lighter color (like the light grey). And is it comfy?
