Could someone who did this recently please walk me through the basics for enrolling for a summer school class? On the website, it says info is coming soon, and it also says the steps are 1) complete google form 2) you get an email saying application received 3) applications are processed in the order received and then you get some more emails.
I remember that years ago when I did this for kid 1, you had to get some kind of signature or something before submitting the application. Is that still required -- maybe as part of step 1? And then I think I remember driving the application to some location, like central processing. I would really appreciate a step-by-step guide if anyone could be so kind! |
| Clearly you need to wait until the info is available. What happened in previous years is not relevant. |
| As PP said, you need to wait until registration opens. It hasn’t. So chill and wait for instructions. |
| My child is currently doing online health this spring. The registration process in January was just what it says -- complete a google form, get a confirmation that the application was received, and then get a confirmation of enrollment later, with a final email with teacher/zoom/assignment information a few days before classes started. No additional signature was required. I don't know if summer registration will be the same, but it will probably be similar. |

So there are on line classes during the school year now? Can you take them in addition to a full regular schedule? Do you have to pay? |

Yes, my 9th grader is doing online health A right now. It's one 90-minute zoom a week plus a LOT of asynchronous work (not difficult, just a lot). Last week there were 8 assignments plus 3 quizzes; this week is 5 assignments plus 9 quizzes. It's manageable, but does take some time management skills. And there is no cost for it. The PP posted the correct link to the information: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/onlinelearning/ When my kid registered, we were told that we would be initially waitlisted to let current seniors have priority for the class, since they need it to graduate; we didn't receive confirmation of enrollment until about a week before the class started. We were also told that online health B won't be available until my kid is a junior, and that the class of 2025 would have first priority over the class of 2026 at that point. |

Information is available now at https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/extendedhours/summerschool/
Looks like registration will be in ParentVue this year, starting April 12. |
| Does anyone take extra math over the summer to add 2-3 levels of math by graduation? Seems like a stress-free way to get a lot of extra free instruction. Web link says those courses are available for original credit. |
|
It says all webinars must be attended to get credit.
So even one conflict for a single webinar is a deal breaker? Any experience with this? |
The dates are wrong for the second session. Surely there are no classes on Saturdays. |
The dates for Required Synchronous Meetings for the second session are: 7/20, 7/24, 7/26, 7/28, 8/2, 8/4, 8/7, 8/9. None of those are Saturdays - they cover 4 weeks with classes on Th, M/W/F, W/F, and M/W. |
That’s because they fixed it. Earlier this morning the dates were Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays instead of Mon, Wed, Fri. They also had it finishing on August 8 not 9, with only one class that week (on a Tuesday). Glad they fixed it, but annoyed there are now two classes the week of Aug 7 as that means those dates won’t work for us. |
Can I ask what grade your child is in? When do most students take health if they do it online? |
