I want to start off by acknowledging that I know this is a culinary delicacy, and commonly eaten in Peru.
A local restaurant is serving guinea pig. Aka cuy. And as cute as they are as pets, which is what they are here in our area, they’re also rodents. Is serving guinea pig even legal in our area? Before somebody compares it to rabbit, which are also pets ( and I personally won’t eat), rabbits are not rodents. |
| It's horrible to eat any animals. They all have feelings and feel pain. |
| Are you looking to create trouble for this establishment? |
The living plants cry too. You've never heard a broccoli weep? |
| There aren’t that many differences between rodents and lagomorphs. |

My husband is from Ecuador, where they also serve cuy. I shared the post you are probably referencing and the first thing he said was that he wondered how they got it here.
Turns out the FDA regulates it under exotic meats, which also includes rabbit, bison, and for some reason venison. https://modernfarmer.com/2015/12/cuy/ |
Sorry, is there something about a rodent (other than your personal judgment) that makes their meat.. not meat or something? I’m not sure about the point of your post? I’m also guessing you’ve never spent 1:1 time with a well socialized chicken, pig, or cow. |
