Keys Gamarra Latest to Run for Higher Office/Leave FCPS School Board

The Patch is reporting that Karen Keys Gamarra will make an announcement shortly that she is seeking to represent the 7th District in the Virginia House of Delegates, which includes parts of Herndon, Reston, Oakton, and some other areas.

She'll have lots of competition, as several other Democrats are seeking to fill a vacancy created by Ken Plum's announcement that he will not seek re-election. She may have more name recognition that the other candidates, but some of it will be based on her less than stellar moments, such as her early struggles with Robert's Rules of Order, her tendency to imply her colleagues where racist whenever they didn't agree with her, and her coming very close to being censured by her School Board colleagues for repeatedly using the "r-word" when displeased with the positions taken by her colleagues or other members of the public.

Either way, she's been on the School Board for over five years, accomplished little, and exasperated many. Bye!

Oakton (though her kids went to Madison, not Oakton). Southern part of the 7th HOD District.

Her push to saddle Lewis HS with an unpopular and low-demand public policy academy will not be forgiven. It has only further set back the southeast region from developing an actually useful academy or program to benefit the population.

Interesting that the former President of the Fairfax NAACP just endorsed one of the other candidates for the HOD-7 seat. KKG isn’t all that, and the people who know know that.

Moon is running, he absolutely has my vote. Kyle McDaniel announced that he is also running for the D endorsement for at-large. What do we think about him?

He’s a former Republican (Herrity staffer) who first became an independent due to his distaste for Trump and now is seeking a Democratic endorsement. Thought he would have been preferable to both Schultz and Cohen when he ran for the Springfield seat in 2019 although he predictably lost without a party endorsement.

They’re all fleeing because they know they’ll get completely taken down between the election and the lawsuit.

They’re jumping ship so they won’t be responsible for cleaning up their Sh—t dumped on this school system. Good riddance but terrible that they won’t be held accountable and instead will continue to claw their way into higher positions.
