Wow, so much for all the vaunted biotech in MoCo:
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/markets/novavax-stock-plunges-25-as-vaccine-maker-has-substantial-doubt-about-staying-in-business/ar-AA1844eo Novavax has been a stinker for a long time. This is also after the US govt and tax payers poured millions of dollars into this garbage company that handed out giant bonuses to their executives even though they were never required to actually deliver a COVID vaccine. https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/22/health/us-coronavirus-vaccine-funding/index.html https://news.yahoo.com/exclusive-novavax-execs-could-big-110355995.html |
| One would think that with a name like NOVAvax they would be based in VA. |
| Yup. Very disappointing. |
| The govt basically slowrolled approval of Novavax's vaccine, subjecting it to such a long process that it did not subject Moderna/Pfizer to, and so by the time Novavax's vaccine was approved, people were no longer interested in getting vaccines. But the company wasn't even doing that great before the pandemic, so it was prob doomed no matter what. |
Wow, I'm sorry they aren't able to compete against the "big" players. Personally I think innovation is a good use of govt. $. Outsized bonuses for execs who haven't delivered the goods... Not so much (

Does this mean that they won’t be breaking ground in their new Gaithersburg HQ after all? LOL

| No doubt this is all the fault of that hypocritical woke Takoma Park cabal. Also, the earthquake in Turkey, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and your toast landing buttered-side-down when you drop it. /s |
It is obviously Marc Elrich's fault. Why would Marc Elrich do this? |
Highly doubtful. They have almost no cash left. Expect a lot of people to go in the UE line in MoCo. |
who is buiding giant headquarters that far out in the suburbs. Its a dying model. |
Once the other vaccines hit the market, there was no reason to expedite anything for Novavax. They were in a race and they lost badly |
Touch grass |
Exactly. A model that is dying so fast that Amazon has doubled down on a corporate HQ in… Herndon. https://patch.com/virginia/herndon/amazon-web-services-celebrates-grand-opening-of-herndon-headquarters Not to mention Google’s investment in Reston. https://www.ffxnow.com/2022/04/19/google-announces-300m-investment-in-virginia-from-reston-office/ |
What does that mean? |
Don't compare biotech and pharma to the rest of tech and corporate though. Science companies need lab space. |
