Washington International School Decisions

Does anyone know when WIS announces their decisions? I can not find it on their website and I don't remember them sharing the date. Do they email decisions?

In a previous year decisions were sent sometime late afternoon on that Friday via email and on their portal

We applied for K and are also waiting. WIS doesn't get a lot of love on this site - curious why? We were really impressed with tour and engagement with the school so far, and have friends with multiple kids there who speak very positively.

Pretty sure WIS goes with the rest of the DC-area non-Catholics, so this Friday around 4pm.

What school gets a lot of love on this site? It's a big K-12 school. There is a variety of experiences, at times dependent on randomness, like the other kids and parents in the class, as well as individual fit. Complicating matters is that in primary, the two sides of the school each have their own subcultures. All that matters is if you think your child will thrive there. If the answer is yes, by all means, go.

PP - this was a uniquely unhelpful response. Plenty of other schools get talked about incessantly here. WIS is very rarely mentioned. I'm actually looking at that as a net positive but the idea that you took the time to write out your response to say absolutely nothing but the obvious...yes thank you, I will choose a school where I think my child will thrive. Thank you for the insight. Would have never thought of that myself.

Despite being an "International School", this school does not seem to be very diverse. They don't report their diversity stats to Niche, and according to US News & World Report, Black or African American enrollment is only 5%

Where does the website say this?

https://www.wis.edu/admissions/how-to-apply

And I think the time of day may be within the application platform

It's true there aren't a lot of African Americans but there are a lot of African and Caribbean families plus many families of color from around the world. As an international school they look at diversity from a global vs. US-centric lens.

Only black students count as diverse? Nobody else?

Thankfully we all have you to monitor the data and give your valuable opinion on what’s important.

The answer is simple. Most parents of 'international' students at WIS don't go on DCUM. My DS attends WIS and nobody I know goes on DCUM. Many think it's toxic, some don't know about it or are too busy. It's my guilty secret.
