How long for magnet wait pool movement?

I know they have to evaluate appeals. How long before PHS make offers to wait pool? Do they try to “replace” kids that turn down the invitation by gender or home school?

There typically isn't much movement.

Wait pool moves until school starts last summer. Mine got picked up very late (only a few days before school started). GL

It's probably different for every school and grade and I know you are talking about HS but my child got out of the waitpool for CES about a week after the deadline for families accepting.

Right before school starts there is more movement as reality starts to set in

It really depends on how close they were with estimating yield. The first opportunity is when initial decisions between programs need to be made. If acceptances match # of slots, there won't be any initial movement. The second opportunity is when private high school acceptances come out. Sometimes students will drop a magnet program for private. Then there may be a slow shift as people move or change minds.
Late May or June is a good time to touch base with the magnet coordinators.

There will be one big movement in March (?). It’s right after acceptances for programs that aren’t as popular like Global and Humanities at PHS and probably regional IBs. Most of the movement happens then.

The deadline for accept HS seat was 2/17, so technically after that there should be quite some seats open up since some students got multiple invitations, but I am not sure how the reality is.

- just curious, student who got invitation from Blair won't get invitation from PHS SMC?

-another case, if a student got one invitation and one WL, if accepted the invitation, will the WL still be valid?

Yes, that student would still be in the wait pool for the second program. You can accept one program, then get an offer from a different program, but if you accept the invitation to the second program, you will have forfeited your seat in the original program.

That’s not true. There are students who were invited to multiple programs and they can only accept one.

Yes, this was my question. As the next poster noted, the deadline was 2/17. Wondering how long it takes them to go through wait pool and fill the seats that were declined. So stressful.

It’s said on the MCPS website “Middle March -the Round 2 Notification of results “
Please share the new information If anyone received it.
Good luck for everyone.

That middle march date is under the part-time programs section.

Keep in mind they have to first make sure to tally up and register the students who were admitted in the first round.
Then appeals which may take a while.
Then the wait pools. Since they are not ranked and it's not lottery they need to meet to make decisions so it complicates and elongates the process.

My son was given a Global Ecology sear off the wait list two years ago on March 5th
