| How did it go? What were the hurdles? Do you like it after months of use? |
| Don't do it, so hard to get right. Hire a professional. |

We did. We used “beyond paint” in off white to our kitchen cabinets. We removed all the doors and drawers even though website says you can keep it on. The main 2 things we followed to a “t” were 1.) prepping the cabinets properly (using a cleaning solution to remove all grease and grime) then dry. Make sure it’s done correctly. 2.) Let the painted doors/drawers cure for 2 weeks. We did ours almost 3. We bought those painting pyramids to allow them to dry. I must say there’s a technique in applying this paint as it is thick and chalky. Don’t roll too much of it.
We’ve had ours painted for a year and a half now. So far no chipping. If you’re not comfortable with the big project, try it on a smaller furniture and see how it turns out. |
Edited to add: company says 1 coat. We did ours in 2 coats. We had golden honey oak cabinets. |
Is that to say you didn't rehang the doors for 3 weeks? Did you sand between coats! |
Yes, we didn’t rehung for 3 weeks. Company says full cure is 30 days. We just left them open after we hung them back until 30 days. This brand claims no sanding hence we chose it. Just make sure you buy a good prepping solution to wipe all parts of your cabinets with clean rags so paint will adhere. I wish I can attach photos. We’re pleased with it. We don’t have kids. If we did, we would have used off white for above countertops and espresso or darker pigment for under sink cabinets. |
| I used a shellac-based paint, BIN primer, as a primer (duh). After that, whatever paint you like. |

Op here. Thank you! Is the Beyond paint glossy? Does it look factory finished or you can see that it is painted on?
Anyone have experience with Benjamin Moore Advanced cabinet paint? I was reading on that and looks like it is popular. |
I like the Sherwin Williams Emerald cabinet and trim paint better than the BJ Advanced cabinet paint. The SW is "silkier" and the BJ seemed to get really thick after awhile. |
| I have painted all kinds of things in my house- I have painted almost every room in my house, I have refinished and painted furniture (including a crib!!). But I hired someone to do our kitchen cabinets. It’s too much. It took three guys a week to do it. |
| Oh no, please don't. We can all tell you DIYed and not in a good way. Even PP who thinks they did the best job ever? We know you painted your own cabinets. They need to be removed, stripped, sanded, and sprayed. |
| I hired a handy guy team to paint my kitchen cabinets and they painted them with brushes and rollers. While the paint has held up, they don’t have that factory finish look. If I did it again I’d have them professionally sprayed. |
