| Talking about kids of big sports hosts or F500 C-suite execs who live in the Midwest & South, and so on. Their kids are poised and gorgeous, go to University of Alabama or LSU, join top sororities and fraternities and have a relaxed demeanor. They’re so much fun to be around, unlike uptight DC policy schlubs. That is all. |
| What is a big sports host? |
|
They have their own disturbing caste system under that 'fun'. With shades of patriarchy and white supremacy thrown in. Trust.
|
| Also those are not the 'truly affluent'. |
Big time. |
| Ok |
| They have different values and much more money than “policy schlubs.” |
| These are the people that I went to school with. No, they don’t care. Kids will never have to earn money and live off of trusts. It’s a totally different environment. And many of my friends had substance abuse issues. So much fun to be around |
Also their kids were not focused on working super hard in HS. Which is fine! Just a different outlook. They'll all don fine bc they have a lot of money anyway. |
+1 can you imagine the ‘truly affluent’ sending their kid to Alabama. Op, the ‘truly affluent’ have very likely never been within 1,000 miles of Alabama |
You’re a bit parochial yourself. The grandkids of Buffett, the Waltons of Walmart and others are at these schools. |
This. So much. |
|
You have just met the “American Gentry” and I can assure you that their attendance at Alabama or LSU, the same as their joining those specific sororities and fraternities, was no mistake.

And they’ll work in the family business or use their caste system perks to get a job. |
The E coast lives in such a bubble. Yes, people in the south have money. Lots of it. And kids of high millionaires and billionaires go to schools across the south, UT, LSU, Ole Miss, SMU, and even Alabama. I don’t think that you know what you’re talking about, PP |
