Interesting take away, FCPS isn't required to enforce protective orders. |
Parents fail to parent. |
I watched that this morning. That poor kid!
Incident is putting it mildly, that’s a flat out violent attack. What that mom did, going to the police, assured that this wasn’t going to be swept under the rug. I hope her son recovers. |
Hello, Let’s just be honest here. In this case, public school administrators clearly refused to obey court orders to keep the perpetrator 50 feet away from her target. How familiar is all of this? Protect criminal violence while victims rights are obliterated. That’s just how Democrats roll apparently. |
Should they have put her on a different bus? Required carpool? How would that work? How would they keep her from passing him in the hall? Just wondering about the logistics. |
The attacker should have been moved to a program that provides services for emotionally unregulated kids and not allowed to stay in a mainstream program. |
And people wonder why the Mt Vernon pyramid is so under enrolled |
At this point, that program should be in juvie |
At least on the protective order - I don’t see how FCPS could be expected enforce it.
In general I think FCPS could use more disciplinary enforcement. My spouse is a teacher and complains that kids don’t get suspended for anything these days. |
Remove the attacker from the school. If this wasn't her first offense, then she needs to be in a program for emotionally unregulated kids. This wasn't a fight, this was an assault. She ht a kid, grabbed a kid, and choked a kid. Why should the victim have to be in contact with the person who assaulted them? I had a friend whose kid brought a large knife to school. He didn't attack anyone with it but was removed from the school for a year and sent to an alternate school. What has changed in the last 10 years that a kid can choke another kid and remain at that school? |
If they can't comply, they need to move her to another school. |
I'm so sick of this kind of crap. It seems like the kids who have all the disciplinary issues have all the power, as do their parents. What are the rest of us supposed to do?
This girl should not be allowed on the bus anymore, and shouldn't even be allowed at the same school. I'm so sick of these schools not doing anything to the kids doing these types of things, and making the victims jump through hoops to be safe. I hope the mom sues the school district and the abusers' parents. |
+1 Because the "Student's Rights and Responsibilities" is bunk. The "rights" part seems to go only in the direction of the perpetrator. I taught in another school system some years ago. The school system was responsible for the kids who were on the school bus. In this case, even if this was a first offense (which I find difficult to believe), once the child was given the court order to stay away, she should have been placed in another school. Wonder if the mom has considered suing school system for not keeping her son safe on the bus. |
They’re cheap and won’t do that. It’s just like how they’ll do just about anything to not have to pay for a special placement for kids with serious learning disabilities. |
