Is Mayor Bowser ever going to get DPW or other agencies to clean up trash in DC? Do your job, Mayor!

The District is filled with trash, it's a nuisance.

Ward 2, Logan Circle: trash.
Ward 7: Trash. (first tweet below)
Ward 1: Trash. (second tweet below)
I just drove by Catholic in Ward 5: Trash. All over the side of the roads, all on the grass. Like a blanket.

We have mayoral agencies whose job is to clean up trash.

It's not on the council members, it's on the mayor.
It's on Bowser. What is she doing to clean up trash?

Nothing like someone from flyover country all of a sudden getting an interest in urban littering. If you don’t like it leave. This is what the people voted for. It was a lot worse 20 years ago and it’s perfectly fine now. Quit complaining.

I have lived in DC for 20 years.

It is the mayor’s job to clean up trash.
She isn’t getting it done. It’s not the council, it’s the mayor. She runs the exec agencies and the current structure of the council has little oversight power.

When is Bowser going to get DPW to do its job?

Maybe litter had gotten a little worse since COVID, but it’s massive better than 20 years ago and isn’t a serious problem. If you don’t like urban living the suburbs might be more your speed.

DPW is trash.

Every single 311 request I’ve filed that was handed to them was closed without any action or an explanation.

rats everywhere. They need to push the lidded garbage cans--give people and restaurants as many as they need--and ticket for spillover! And yes to trash pickup. Sanitation workers make good money--start a jobs program that begins with street trash pickup and ends with a secure sanitation job. Don't we have unemployment in DC?

What am I looking at here? The first photos look like a construction site….very little trash.

The second Tweet is of garbage on NPS land; DC DPW won’t clean that up. Chalk this up to another reason why DC should be a state.

I was just in NYC last week. DC is soooooo clean compared to NYC.

Why does DC need to be a state in order for the city to clean up trash?

Bro, I’m from here. It’s getting bad again. Crime and litter. Stop being one of those “it was worse in the 80’s! If you don’t like it move to Chantilly!!!l” posters. It’s not a good look.

Yeah, I've lived here since 2003 and never remember crime being this bad. Just a general feeling of complete lawlessness when you walk around the city. We're a city that's terrorized by large groups of teens wearing ski masks.

She's too busy ignoring the crime problem. No time to focus on the trash problem.

I thought it was me! I am so sick of the trash everywhere! It's embarrassing.

Yeah, I was confused by this too. Only one of these pictures appears to have trash in it, and it appears to be on land that doesn't belong to DC!

I don’t think you’ve thought through the position that trash thrown from DC into other jurisdictions isn’t DCs problem.
