Stopped IF…losing weight?

Anonymous
I plateaued with 5 more pounds of baby weight to lose. Was doing IF along with 5-6 miles of stroller walks in the morning.

I decided to try eating breakfast again. I started eating a small breakfast after exercising. I’m now down 3 pounds in 2-3 weeks.

Anyone experience this?

Yes. Your body can start to think you’re starving with IF so holds onto calories for dear life, and it can slow your metabolism. That’s been my experience/perception, anyway.

it's almost like IF is just an eating disorder with a fancy name

It's almost as if ... you don't know what you are talking about.

Come on, IF is just a system to manage calories.

There definitely are benefits of fasting....but those benefits don't come when you've only fasted for 16 hours.

This is just a system/structure to manage intake

Some people do better if they eat breakfast. They are less hungry and consume less calories in total during the day. If you were not counting calories with IF that is probably what happened. IF is no magic and some people can imagine to overeat just fine on just two meals a day.

Starvation mode is a myth

Really? Who knows.

I was also doing IF for years. I wasn’t sure it was working for me anymore. I’m also really active and a teacher and can’t eat lunch until 12:15 so it was getting hard to fast until then. I added back breakfast and I hadn’t gained weight and I am not starving all morning anymore.

There is a lot out there about peri menopausal women and fasting not being a great option.

IF for me is a way of life. I've done it now for nearly 10 years. But when I travel and add a ton of calories in my eating window, I sometimes lose weight.

IF does not work for me.

I have been on IF since New Year's and have lost 9lbs. However, it definitely could just be the calorie restriction. It's easier for me to keep my overall calories down when I'm only eating two meals a day. I don't find the fast hard at all.

Not sure if I'm going to stay on it forever. My biggest complaint is that it seems to have slowed my digestion.

IF is just a different way of reducing calories. If you go back to eating breakfast but you are still in a deficit then you will still keep losing. Has nothing to do with IF.

Thank you.

It shouldn't even be called fasting.

Doctors who publish papers disagree with you.

But there are benefits of fasting, even if 15/16 hours. Eating 9-6 is still plenty of time to eat.
