Which membership do I want? Sams or Costco?

Or both?

Costco

I don't know about Sams, but Costco has as website where you can see their inventory. Since we don't know what you want to buy, that's probably the best way to decide.

OP here - I've shopped at Costco for years but i just got a flyer in the mail for a $25 Sams club membership. Just wondering if the grass is greener over at Sams and I should give it a try for a year or pass. Either way I'm not giving up Costco.

If it’s near you and the $25 is no big deal, why not? I’m in Arlington and our only option is the Costco from hell or a terrible BJs, so I don’t belong to any.

Sam's club is very customer friendly. Free shipping on so many items or you can order & have brought to your car. You can scan & check out on their app in the store. Inventory & prices are online. No checkout lines. Sam's club credit card has generous cash back categories. Online ordered items can be returned with free shipping or in the store. Bakery items taste better. Some items come in slightly smaller packages, 3 huge bakery danishes instead of 6, but the cost per item is cheaper than Costco.

Costco is my favorite but I love Sam’s for there pickup, it’s so convenient and I can usually order and pick up the same day.

Sam's is half the price

We have Costco and Sams close to each other in Gaithersburg. You can go and browse with a temporary pass.

Costco, unless you want to support the Walton family, that owns Sam's.

Yes try them out. We had Sams for a year and I didn’t like it at all. Have had Costco for several years now, love it.

I am almost positive that your car will drive a few more miles to one of the much, much better Costcos in the area. It's not like the local pool, where you're only allowed to join the one in your immediate area.

I have both and one thing I love about Sam’s is the ability to scan items to my phone and never have to wait in line to
check out.

Whichever one is closer and less crowded. We live in Rockville so are equidistant from 3 Costcos (plus Columbia isn't that far). But if I lived in Gaithersburg and had to choose between Sams and the hell that is that Costco, I would go with Sams in a heartbeat. That Costco is a nightmare!
