Which membership do I want? Sams or Costco?

I am almost positive that your car will drive a few more miles to one of the much, much better Costcos in the area. It's not like the local pool, where you're only allowed to join the one in your immediate area.

We have both and like both for different reasons. I think the baked goods at sams are better than Costco. Gas lines are shorter (Laurel vs Columbia Costco). They out end of season stuff in deep discount so we get some great deals.
Also a better candy/treat selection.
Costco seems more upscale and they will have some interesting seasonal brands to try whereas Sams tends to stick to the standard brands. PP suggestion to do a visit at each is good. We knew right away keeping both memberships would be worth it to us.

Whatever is closest.

My neighbors are all fanatical about Costco. I'm meh. We're members because we got a good deal on tires and a basement couch. I'd easily switch to Sam's if it were closer bc I don't really care.
