We are a high risk family and I can’t afford to get sick, especially with COVID. Not to mention I don’t want to have to delay treatments.
I was really disappointed to learn that SG doesn’t require masking in their monitoring facility and really surprised to see all the unmasked patients and staff. Help me out— does GW require masks? How compliant are patients and staff at masking in office? Thanks for your help. |
| Is this a new development? Masks were still required in all SGF facilities I went to during my treatment in the fall (graduated to OB in early October). |
| It seems recent (last couple months,) |
| I don't know about GW but I have noticed that a lot of medical facilities that had been very strict about masking through most of the pandemic have loosened their rules over the past couple months. |

COVID isn’t going anywhere and I don’t think most people are open to masking in eternity. You can catch Covid as easily at the grocery store or a party as you can a doctor’s office. So unless you’re masking everywhere, it doesn’t make sense to mask at SGF.
Personally if you’re that high risk for Covid, I’d consider doing whatever it is you did pre-pandemic. What would you have done in 2019 at SGF? If you’re that high risk for Covid that you need to mask 24-7 then I’d reconsider having children. It’s not fair to have kids and never be able to attend public events, go anywhere not in a mask. Kids can’t even mask until age 2 anyway. Are you not going to send them to school? |
Because the vast majority of people caught Covid despite masking. Maybe masks work, but even if they do, you’re still likely to catch covid. Most people don’t want to wear masks for the rest of their lives when it probably won’t keep them from catching Covid anyway. |
| You should educate yourself. Also let me guess, you consider yourself “pro-choice” 😆 https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2023-02-06/face-masks-ability-to-stop-viruses-needs-study-review-finds |
| GW requires masks, staff and all of the patients wear them. They give them to you when you arrive if you don't have one. |
thanks for this actual piece of helpful information, PP. i'm really surprised at the anti-mask sentiment here -- i know it's DCUM, but usually the IF board has more empathy. especially the high risk people shouldn't have children comment -- that's quite a low, even for DCUM. |
| There are COVID anxious people everywhere that can’t let it go. They were anxious before and I truly think COVID really broke them. If ever your RE is dropping the mask (as REs are generally the most cautious of the cautious), then try to consider whether everyone else is wrong or perhaps you are. |
Not PP, but perhaps it’s because your post is far from empathetic and condescending to the people who are actually following the science. |
This right here. |
Stop being obnoxious. (spoken by someone who cannot return their children to school because of people like you) |
If you have health issues and at risk, it's not anxiety. Be grateful for your health and stop being obnoxious. |
