| Is it just me or does it take a whole can just to fill the bread? I just made tuna sandwiches and used 4 cans of tuna for 4 people. I put Mayo, relish, seasonings, and a little celery. How much tuna do you usually consider a serving? |
| I think I usually use two cans for 5 of us in our home. But I hear you, if you want a very filled sandwich, you need more. |
| Are you using sliced bread for giants? No, one regular-sized can of tuna makes tuna salad for several sandwiches here. Enough to feed four people. But we just use regular sandwich bread, not gigantic sandwich bread. |
|
I've always thought one slice of bread is the most ridiculous 'serving.' Who makes half a sandwich?
But, OP, I guess if you use the one serving for bread (one slice) then you can also use less tuna for your tuna sandwich. |
| We use 1 can for 2 ppls. Also there sre bigger cans at costco |
|
I agree OP I would use the same amount as you.
A can of tuna barely makes 2 sandwiches even on good old wonder bread LOL |
LOL!! So just use a bigger can. Hilarious. |
Hahaha!! |
|
I use packaged tuna. One package is equal to one can.
In our house, one package of tuna supplies enough topping for two dog bowls of dry food (kibble). I hope this helps. |
| I eat a whole can, but not on bread. Protein! |
| I bulk mine up with celery, onions, relish, sometimes boiled egg. Are you using just straight tuna? |
No, I’m using a regular slice of natures own wheat bread. |
Tuna, relish, spices, a little celery and Mayo |
| One can is enough for two pretty lean sandwiches, or one solid sandwich and a tiny bit leftover for a lil snack later. But I like a lot of mayo and crunchy add-ins for bulk. |
| If anyone wonders why Americans are all so much larger today than they were in previous generations, this is why. Do you remember what your parents and grandparents used to eat for a typical lunch or dinner serving? They didn't eat one can of tuna per person. |
