| I remember people going to the pediatrician or the mall back in the day, but friends now say to use a tattoo parlor with a professional piercer? |
| Craig pokes you in Arlington |
|
Look up a reputable tattoo place and do it there. I did mine at the mall in claires as a kid and actually them repierced when my daughter did hers because mine had closed up after infections (I don't think related to the piercing but an allergy I have).
It was night and DAY. Seriously it didn't even hurt. No gun. It was kind of scarier FEELING because instead of pastel colors and unicorns you're in a tattoo parlor with some large tattooed man sizing you up but the quality of the piercing and the lack of pain etc was just like, incredibly improved. |
| We went to piercing pagoda at fair oaks mall for first one and Craig pokes you for second and both of us preferred piercing pagoda. |

I didn’t want to go to a tattoo parlor but knew Claire’s wasn’t great, so I took DD to Studs which I discovered while traveling in Boston. They have several locations across the country.

| Fatty's on Connecticut is good. I got mine done there and could easily see my kid being comfortable as well. |
+1. |
| tattoo parlor. do not go to a place with a gun, which causes tissue damage. use a professional. |
| We had a good experience at Red Octopus. They will only pierce with a needle for children 10+. |
| Claire’s was a great experience for us! Multiple times. |

Craig’s pokes u is a place I would definitely recommend (although pricey) |
If you're in NoVA, we had wonderful experiences (more than once) with The Piercing Nurse. She'll come to your home and makes it a fun experience. |

It -CAN- cause damage but usually does not. I have multiple holes in my ears with a gun (even the old school spring gun types), as do my friends, my daugther, etc. and it's been FINE. Especially if it is a lobe piercing, not a cartilage one. |
