Indiana Hutton Honors College

Well, after a super frustrating weekend of deferrals, my DD heard something positive. She has been accepted into the Indiana University Hutton Honors Program. Does anyone have any experience with Hutton?

Has she visited? It’s a great program with lots of opportunities and B-town is a wonderful college town. There’s really something for everyone there.

We are an IU family. Best school ever. Not familiar with Hutton. I have two in Kelly right now. Big school done really well. Congrats!

Can't speak specifically to Hutton but my dad lives in Bloomington - we love it there! Wonderful college town. There are a ton of IU grads in DC, esp from the public policy school.

+ 1. Kid not really interested in Kelly, though I wish she was. More liberal arts and media. Thank you for the plug for Indiana. DC must choose between Indiana or Maryland. No honors at UMD. IU sounds more and more appealing

My daughter has also been accepted to IU Hutton. We are thrilled. Visiting in February. Hoping for some merit aid though…

Can you be in Hutton and the Media School? My DC got into the Media School.

My daughter got accepted to Hutton Honors College. Didn't end up going (she's at UMich), although I think she would have been incredibly happy there. And my wallet would've been pleased, too! Lovely campus. Great academics. There are many DMV kids at IU.

+1. Thank you for the positive words about Indiana. Daughter is bummed because Michigan deferred her and that was her first choice (like ‘every’ other kid in this country. 😜😜) I just want her to be happy.

Daughter got into freshman connection at UMD and Hutton honors at IU. We ended up at UMD since we are in state and she really liked them both. I will say that Hutton Honors did not seem as formalized as other honors programs. For example, you don’t have to live in an honors dorm.

+10 Same here. Congrats to your daughter. Does she like UMD? We are in state too and DD had her heart set on going OUT of state. But Maryland looks better and better every day.

IU is a strong school with a large network of DC alums and Bloomington is a really cute town. 1 hour from Indianapolis airport. Blue spot in a red state, if that matters to you. Lots of cultural events and concerts and good food. A kid who does well at IU will do well after IU.
