I have not exercised in a few years and could not get excited about a gym OR online classes. I saw an ad online for a Jazzercise sale (not sure if it's still up, sorry, it was 99 for two months) and said why the heck not.
Good music, focus on movement and following along (mental break), no one cares or looks at you, in and out in 45 minutes. It has been a game changer for me. I already feel more energized and strong. It also got in the way of my normal beer/wine time and now I skip alcohol on class nights. Huge win for me. I think even certain teenaged daughters would want to tag along if you want to get your kids out. Signed, not a spokesperson, 40s female, just needed something to get me off the couch, stretch after work, not overly challenging, no small talk if you don't want it, convenient location (for me), fun for all ages. |
I have wanted to try Jazzercise for DECADES. I need to get on it. I've only heard good things about it. |
It will suck you in pretty quickly. I think the shorter classes, not being SO hard you don't want to return are the best things for me. There's basically (for me) to excuse to miss a class. I feel better mentally too, thank goodness. It feels good to stretch and move after working at a desk all day. Maybe I'll ease back into zumba or kickboxing eventually. ![]() |
Are there online Jazzercise classes/instructors you recommend. |
Where do you go, OP? I used to take Zumba pre-kids and loved it, I keep thinking I should try something in that realm again. |
Where? So interested! |
They need to not play the music too loud. And it needs to be not too crowded. And don't make a fuss over newcomers, let us assimilate and learn without eyes on us. |
I did Jazzercise a few times in my 20s (traveling consultant limited to classpass) and it was fun. The crowd is not that fit but it's a decent workout if your goal is to get up and moving. |
NP. There are apparently loads of Jazzercise classes around DMV! https://www.jazzercise.com/search |
How coordinated do you need to be? I tried Zumba and hated it bc I spent more time trying to figure out the steps than actually doing them 😂 |
Have you watched Physical on Apple TV? I would think of the main character but I’m also interested in trying it! |
This is a great recommendation, OP! Thanks! |
I just got the online subscription to body groove. I’ve been feeling a little…depressed and joyless and honestly dancing around in private like a complete weirdo brightens up my day. And then afterwards I’m actually sore from getting in a good workout. |
I teach Zumba but grew up on Jazzercise. I love Jazzercise! You are making me wanna go get certified in it, OP! I agree, it's great! I love all different kinds of dance workouts. |
