Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
Go find you a school district where the covid pandemic didn't happen. You might need a time machine. |
While it's not great, this represents a recovery from even worse numbers due to the pandemic. So context matters. |
There is no solution. If you're a concerned parent, be in a W or BCC pyramid because the problem isn't even remotely evenly spread throughout the county |
Can you provide a link to cluster-specific numbers? |
No, context doesn’t matter, those scores are abysmal, period. It’s shameful how quickly people excuse stuff like this. |
Seriously. I feel sorry for their kids that their parents have such low standards. |
have at it https://reportcard.msde.maryland.gov/ |
From what I can see, that hasn’t been updated since the 2018-2019 school year. |
Nope. "The most recently available Report Card is for the school year 2018-2019." |

There is already a thread

What? Of course it matters. How much improvement do you expect to see from historic lows in a single year? Now we definitely need to aggressively work to continue improving on those numbers, but knowing the hole that we're digging out of absolutely matters. Furthermore, I'd like to point out that the state average is lower than MCPS's, so while MCPS isn't stellar, the rest of the state is in worse shape. |
Do you really think the schools filled with the children of wealthy educated parents where nearly every child was proficient have somehow equalized with the schools with high percentages of ELL and FARMs students? That report gave MoCo middle schools 42% proficiency overall in math. Pyle was 82% proficient. |
So 1 in every 5 kids at Pyle aren’t proficient in math. Is that acceptable just because it’s higher than other schools? |
Ah ok, so because MCPS is better than even more abysmal results statewide, we can brush it off. What a crock. |
