I am tired of watching my husband's drama movies. He convinced me to watch Thirteen Lives last night and it was too suspenseful and nerve wracking, even though I know how it ends. I realized I love sitcoms and could watch them all day. What's the best comedy or rom com movie that you have watched lately? Any years work, but prefer more modern. I have most streaming services.
Thanks! |

Oh man I can so relate!
Lately I have liked Enola Holmes and Rosaline (on Hulu), and oldies I have watched recently are The Holiday and Legally Blonde (better than I remember, especially since I heard a shake-y but fun theory that Elle is on the spectrum). |
| Have you seen About Time? It’s one of my favorites. On Prime. |
| If you want to watch a comedy that is also full of (comical) action that will also entertain your husband: bullet train with brad Pitt on Netflix |
|
Oldies I can re-watch any number of times
His Girl Friday Charade The Birdcage How to Steal a Million |

Amazon Prime originals has a bunch that are not rocket science just cute. Booksmart was silly but cute, Old ones Definitely Maybe Music & Lyrics Sliding Doors Defintely Maybe |
| Defending Your Life, with Albert Brooks and Meryl Streep |
| Wedding Crashers |
|
I liked:
Forgetting Sarah Marshall I love you, Man Longshot (Charlize Theron and Seth Rogan) If you have Hulu, The Drop with Anna Konkle was cute. Classics: When Harry Met Sally Say Anything Anything written by Nora Ephron Artsy/sad but good: The painted veil with Ed Norton and Naomi watts was great Same w Atonement |
|
Some I’ve enjoyed:
The Big Sick While You Were Sleeping Miss Congeniality Stardust Stranger than Fiction Pride and Prejudice - especially BBC version Age of Adaline (not funny really but romantic) The Butcher’s Wife As Good as it Gets Crazy Rich Asians Groundhog Day About Time Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (not funny but romantic) |
|
Comedy tv shows, more female-centered:
Fleabag My Crazy Ex Girlfriend (it’s way better than the title) Parks and Rec Pen15 New Girl Jane the Virgin 30 Rock Great News |
|
Late to the party, but I just started The Mindy Project now on Netflix and am loving it. Each little episode ties up neatly and I find myself smiling while watching it. She is obsessed with romantic comedies which is a continuing storyline, so there is that connection, too.
Has everyone else already seen it? |

I am surprised nobody has mentioned the best ever
Howard The Duck |
| We watched Palm Springs the other night and really liked it. It's a Groundhog Day premise, but with a twist. Very funny, well-acted, and, if you're into the Groundhog Day as philosophy thing, you'll have a lot to talk about afterwards. |
