Furnishing a new apartment following divorce so don't want to break the bank but looking for some affordable artwork - ideally a set of two complementing pieces roughly 24 x 36.
Any suggestions on where to shop? |
| You need to post a budget, we don’t know what “affordable” or “break the bank” mean to you. |

Are you looking for local artists? We've bought nice large pieces at the Torpedo Factory and shows at Glen Echo.

Depends on your taste. I've gotten some nice prints from this artist:

If you’re not an adept photographer, walk around and take some closeup photos of buildings and sculptures you like (for example, frame the face of a statue you like). Try to have a reasonably pleasing composition - the shortcut to achieving that will be to have as little else in the frame as possible. Have two images you like printed in black and white on snapfish or similar, and put them in frames with mats from Michael’s. Everything looks good in black and white and using a sculpture or sculptural building as the subject matter is a quick and easy way to get something interesting and pleasing to look at. |
Hey Stranger, thanks for this link. It made my brain really happy to look at! I feel very positively stimulated.

| I'd go to local art and craft shows and find something by a local artist. It will be more unique and personal. |
