California closets might be too steep for us. Any feedback on ikea’s closet systems? How about container store? Thanks.

I think you might be in the sale window for Elfa right now.

The ikea system looks great to me. It’s going to be a little less customizable than the Elfa because you’ll be limited to certain lengths for the top rail. This is also true for the wire shelves sold at HD (which don’t have drawers), or at least it’s harder to cut them. You can cut the shelves with a bolt cutter but you’d need idk what to cut the top rail or the hanging standards.

Imo it just depends on what your needs are. Just need shelves and hanging bars? Home Depot Everbilt and a bolt cutter is just as good as Elfa imo. Need drawers, but not to maximize space or do anything crazy? I would definitely at least look at the IKEA system. Kitting out a master closet where you want to use every inch and have special shoe things and lots of drawers? Elfa is expensive but really great in my experience.

People on this board tend to really not like wire shelves, but I wouldn’t rule them out unless you really don’t like the look. With the plastic liners they’re so functional. I love that dust falls through and air circulates, personally. The mesh Elfa shelves don’t leave marks on any of my clothes.
