s/o on other thread...things you probably spend too much money on but think it's worth it

Isn't spending money great sometimes? Here are some of my things:

- Groceries - I go to Costco like the rest of you but I also enjoy high quality produce and meat and organic stuff at Whole Foods that I know is probably overpriced but it feels nice to buy and eat. I honestly barely look at the prices unless it's ridiculous. $8 for milk from pasture raised cows? Works for me.
- Workout clothes - I'll spend $50-$100 on nice Lululemon gear and the quality is awesome and looks great.
- Appliances/technology - I've paid a good amount for very highly rated blenders, food processors, TVs, headphones, etc. They work well and last a long time.
- Baby gear when my kids were little. I bought that $1000 Uppbaby stroller and subscribed to Lovevery kits. I can afford it so why the heck not?
- Subscriptions. I subscribe to Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Apple TV - all of them! I love my shows and they bring me a lot of happiness.

Travel. My family flies business class and when we go on vacations they’re vacations for me as well— childcare, fully appointed places to stay no shared beach houses, etc.

Traveling. I’m not even talking about big International trips, just exploring US towns with my family in Airbnbs. It always feels like an extravagance when I’m booking a weekend away, but it’s one of the favorite parts of my life.

$8-$9 beers at the local beer garden on a summer day when a band is playing. The people, the dancing kids, and the $9 beer is all worth it. …I’ve been known to spend $9 on a beer there other days, but I never regret the summer ones.

Produce and meats - I buy from WF because the quality of the produce is much better than at my local supermarket. I pay extra at WF for meat, eggs, and dairy that have a humane label.

Clothes and shoes - I rarely buy but when I do I spend $$$ on quality things that will last me 10, 20 years or longer.

Doctor - I go to an expensive internist who doesn't take insurance. Upside is I never wait for an appointment and the doctor takes their time to be thorough.

Hotels on vacation - I'll splurge.

I'm really frugal in other areas to the point where family members joke about it. Reusing ziplocs, anyone?

This. I spent an obscene amount on travel in ‘22.

LOL sorry. I was just referring to the other thread where apparently no one spent any money ever!

Reusing Ziploc bags but voluntarily paying out of pocket for all medical services is objectively dumb.

It’s about priorities and spending on things you care about. There isn’t anything objective about it. NP.

Eh I’ll do that too if they’re not dirty. But I’m not going to wash them.

Food and my hair. It never looks as good when I do it as it does when a licensed hairstylist does it and I like it looking good so I spend the money for that.

I do that - it's more about trying to reduce plastic waste. I also have the beeswax wraps but sometimes you just need a ziploc.

Visiting my dad on the other side of the globe. I have been getting questions from distant relatives on why I keep spending all this money - it’s sad they don’t understand it’s genuine love and me missing him and wanting to spend time with him. I am not rich, low income even, but that’s what I save for - semiannual trips there. It’s become expensive too due to some geopolitical issues. I am waiting for my dad to get an immigrant visa and come here for good but meanwhile I keep traveling there.
Yes I need to take care of some other things there too, for dad and myself, but if I didn’t want to go I wouldn’t travel so often.
